During an NHL game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Toronto Maple Leafs over the weekend, both of the Hurricanes’ goaltenders left with injuries. The team called on 42-year-old Zamboni driver Dave Ayres to suit up and get in goal as the emergency backup goaltender. He wound up stopping 8 of 10 shots in his first -- and possibly only -- appearance in an NHL game.
