Arkansas Foodbank Day of Giving - April 9

Arkansas Foodbank is hosting their second annual Day of Giving taking place on Thursday, April 09, 2020. This event is a 24-hour opportunity for the community to safely and effectively give to the Foodbank to continue their COVID-19 response efforts.

Last year, the Arkansas Foodbank Day of Giving was established and it gave donors 40 different opportunities to choose how they would like their funds to help the Foodbank. The past few weeks, lives have been significantly impacted by COVID-19. The Foodbank has been at the front lines of this crisis, partnering with school districts after closings to get children and families food, packing thousands of emergency boxes and getting more food out to the communities it serves. This year, Day of Giving will now be one unified fund to help continue the Foodbank’s critical work in getting food out to those who need it during COVID-19.

“We’ve seen such a great response from the community in helping us at this time, but the demand for more food in our 33-county service area is growing daily” said Rhonda Sanders, CEO of the Arkansas Foodbank. “As unemployment rises, more businesses close, and schools are out for the remainder of the year, the need is getting greater.”

Generous local businesses and individuals have stepped up to match $12,500 on Day of Giving, making donations made on Thursday go further.

There are several ways you can give on April 9th. The Foodbank will have an online link for you to donate at arkansasfoodbank.org, you can text FEED to 501501 for an automatic $10 donation, you can call 501-569-4317 to donate over the phone, or you can mail in a check with “Day of Giving” in the memo line. Every $1 donated to the Foodbank provides food for 5 meals for those in need.

The Foodbank’s goal for Day of Giving is to raise funds for 250,000 meals for hungry Arkansans.
