Mayor Scott Jr. Plans To Issue Executive Order Requiring Facemasks In LR

In a press conference on June 17, Mayor Frank Scott Jr., along with other members of the Board of Directors announced a coming executive order that would require the use of face coverings in public places where physical/social distancing cannot be achieved or maintained. The #KeepCovered #KeepYourDistance initiative was unveiled by Mayor Scott Jr. in "a continuation of (the) public education campaign" and that despite the state reopening, "we are still in a pandemic and people are still getting sick."

Mayor Scott, Jr. said that he wants to see the City be proactive rather than reactive, and this executive order should help protect the citizens of Little Rock.

Along with the announcement that the City of Little Rock would be purchasing another 10,000 masks that would be distributed to Little Rock residents in the coming days.
