Chris Cornell's estate released a rare treat from the late singer today on what would have been his 56th birthday -- a studio recording of his take on Guns N' Roses' "Patience."
The cover was produced by Brendan O'Brien and taken from the recording sessions of a planned solo covers album that Cornell was said to be working on at the time of his death in 2017. A statement on his Facebook page reads, "His birthday seemed the perfect time to share this and celebrate Chris, his voice, music, stories and art."

Also today, Chris Cornell's daughter Lily Silver is honoring his memory by launching an Instagram TV series called Mind Wide Open-- which promises to examine mental health issues in depth.
In a statement about the weekly show, Lily says “As someone who has suffered trauma and loss as well as struggled with anxiety and depression, I know how important it is to have a space to talk openly and without shame about these subjects."
The first episode, which premieres today (Monday) features a conversation with trauma expert Laura van Dernoot Lipsky, who founded the Trauma Stewardship Institute.
