True crime fans have loved tuning in to criminal justice shows like Law & Order and is various spin-offs for decades, but many may have been left wondering about the real stories behind the fictionalized tales they've seen unfold on TV.
Launched last month, the Law & Order: Criminal Justice System podcast "tells the real stories behind the landmark cases that have shaped how the most dangerous and influential criminals in America are prosecuted." The Wolf Entertainment and iHeartPodcasts show, hosted by Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi, recently premiered its inaugural season focusing on the "downfall" of the mafia in New York. According to the podcast description:
"In its first season, the series tackles the most influential crime organization in American history, the New York Mafia. Discover how the seemingly random murder of an influential mafioso sparked a chain of events that led to the downfall of the city's five major crime families at the height of their power."
Throughout the season, listeners will hear how the murder of one man "believed to be the most powerful mafia chieftain in the country" caused a domino effect that ultimately led to the end of one of the mafia crime organization, becoming "one of the most pivotal criminal cases in New York City history."
