Bill to allow hog hunting from balloons passes Texas House with no opposition <Texas-size Eye Roll here>
Two lawmakers in Texas were able to get a bill passed that allows hunters to shoot wild hogs and coyotes from hot air balloons.
House Bill 3535 got approved in the House of Representatives with zero opposition because – believe it or not – areas in the southwest part of the state have an ongoing problem with the expanding hog population.
Until now, hunters have been taking shots at the hogs from helicopters, which have been called “pork choppers” by some.
But, the hogs are smart and have figured out that they need to scatter when they hear the helicopters coming.
Hot air balloons, on the other hand, are silent. And, sneaky. (Houston Chronicle)
