Residents of one Mexican city recently noticed something very fishy falling from the sky.
It was a rainy day and people started noticing small fish raining down amid the rain drops. Local authorities confirmed the unusual phenomenon and shared photos of the fish on Facebook. The post read, "Curious case in Tampico where there was a light rain that included small fish that literally fell from the sky."
It turns out that this "fishnado," though very unusual, is actually not unheard of. Experts say that when a waterspout occurs, which is like a miniature tornado over water, the spout can suck small fish up into the cloud and then drop them like rain over land. It's actually happened before in other parts of the world. (NY Post)
